It's Not The Wig Its The Application!

There has been an elephant in the room of the lace wig niche that's overstayed its welcome and I feel the need to address it. I have kept my mouth shut for far too long. This post is dedicated to the lace wig haters out there. I am not trying to bash anyone because that's not my style. Its all about professionalism.

So let me get straight to the point.

To my understanding many people have a negative connotation about lace wigs. To the point where when doing a twitter search alone people openly express that they hate lace wigs, lace fronts, people that wear lace fronts. I have even read overtly harsh tweets of people saying ludicrous things like people who wear lace fronts should die or the inventor of lace fronts should be dead and rumors about lace fronts causing cancer.

Okay I feel that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If that's how you truly feel than so be it. That's how you feel I cannot change the opinions of others and I am not going to try to.

However I will address this. I am a lace wig designer and I strongly feel that the inventor of lace wigs is brilliant. Not alone for money making purposes and dipping into the African American hair market which is part of a 9 billion dollar industry, but more importantly for giving cancer patients that ability to wear a realistic hair piece after losing their hair as a result of treatments.

Can you imagine how devastating it would be to lose ALL of your hair not by choice?

Additionally, lace fronts help those that suffer from Alopecia. They give people that suffer from trichotillomania hair confidence and the ability to wear a hair piece without being bullied. Plus they help burn patients and others that have medically related hair ailments.

Plus, many females rock lace fronts for cosmetic reasons and convenience purposes and nothing is wrong with that.

Lace front wigs are about making women look and feel beautiful. Giving her the ability to have a style that she desired and a more realistic hairline.

So I applaud the inventor of lace fronts and I applaud lace wig consultants and lace wig designers who dare to take the challenge to make lace wigs or sell them and don't stop or be discouraged because what you do is great.

Now for those of you that despise lace fronts. I honestly don't think you despise the wig itself you don't care for the way they are applied when applied incorrectly that is. Many people do not know how to apply lace front wigs correctly and how to achieve an undetectable hairline. That's where my job comes in - not to hate on them, but to help through teaching them proper application techniques.

Just like someone can be a beautiful person but had a bad make up job. Its not necessarily the make-up that was bad it was an incorrect application, wrong choice of shade, or overdone makeup. The same thing with lace front wigs. Its not the wig its the application people. Its an unrealistic hairline, too much glue, or simply put a wig that doesn't fit.

Just like this can be solved with make-up you learn to apply better by being taught or practicing over and over again. The same applies to a bad weave. The same applies to applying  a lace front or full lace unit. You are taught or you have to practice over and over again to get it right. Or you can seek a professional and have it applied correctly.

With that being said, I love lace fronts and full lace wigs. They have changed the lives of others drastically for the better. So if you rock them - rock on and wear them with pride!

Sick and tired of Unruly Hair?

Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired when it comes to your hair?
Image of a tangled weave!

I am talking to those who have suffered far too long from sitting under the dryer for far too long, suffering from burns, dry and itchy scalp. Tired of spending money over and over and over again on hair. If you are tired of anything listed below then you need to pay attention!

Are you Tired of:

  • Hard to comb hair
  • Tight braids
  • Bad Weaves
  • Overtly Expensive Weaves
  • Damaging bonds
  • Burns that are a result of relaxers
  • Hair Damage
  • Not having time in the morning for your hair
Then this post is dedicated to you. I don't know which one I hate more waiting forever and a day in the hair salon for my hair to get done or sitting under the hot as day dryer - forever feeling ignored. I just cannot be bothered. Don't have the patience or the time. I am sure you feel the same way too. The only good outcome of this is obviously looking and feeling good.

But you too can look and feel good without all the sacrifices. This will cause you to spend less time in the salon under the hot dryer and more time with your family and friends. Plus save money.

Its time for you to beat this hair frustration NOW!
My solution to you is trying a wig. I am not saying ignore your hair problems. I want you to deal with them, embrace them, but still look flawless without suffering.

With a lace front wig and correct application you will get a realistic looking hairline. No one will know its a wig. You can even get a wig that matches the texture of your real hair for a natural look.To top that off lace front wigs can be styled however you want with no additional chemicals. Celebrating Black Hair: Going Short

Recently I was browsing through a blog about a week ago and they gave a timeline on hair. There were nice hairstyles through the decades in there but NOT one black hairstyle was in place. Well that's where the saying "when you want something done do it yourself" falls into play. For black history month - I want to focus on black hair. Today's post is about chopping it off!

How many of you can reflect back on when you got a haircut and when the hairdresser asked you how you wanted your cut? You referred to Chrisette, Rihanna, Mary, T-boz, Toni, Monica, and of course we cannot forget trend-setter Halle Berry.

Everyone around me is cutting their hair and I am JEALOUS.

Many people are cutting their hair for various reasons: wanting a new look, hair damage, etc.

Are you considering cutting you hair?  Don't be scared. It's a new, yet wonderful feeling. Even better it's liberating. You shouldn't dwell on whether or not you want to cut your hair - you just have to do it!

I say go for it. Cutting you hair is not just about a new look or being bold and different. It's about making a statement for yourself. There is no greater feeling than cutting your hair knowing that you now have healthy hair. Short hair is unique and sexy. I've cut my hair several times for a new look and new beginning. My favorite was when I shaved one side of me head like Cassie and put designs in the side.

Helpful Tips if your going to go for the big chop:

  • Go with a few different images of what you want
  • Once you cut OWN it
  • Always try to keep your brows done
  • Use this as an opportunity to play around with make up
  • Play around w/ accessories too!
  • Have fun Your hair will not be short forever!
  • Save money by going to the barber for shape ups

Too scared to cut then you can always try a wig, or a really short weave.

A Simple Solution for Transitioning Easily from Relaxers to Dreads:

Are you considering giving up relaxers to eventually go dread?

It’s no secret that the transitioning process is not smooth. Going and being natural is a lifestyle. Though it may not be a smooth transition this article is going to make it a bit easier for you.

A lot of females have decided to get rid of the creamy crack and go natural. However, one of the biggest decisions you will have to make is whether you are going to cut off your hair and start from scratch or try to transition out.

Either way to some the bold statement of cutting off your hair can be scary or transitioning from a mixture of straight ends and natural roots can be frustrating and daunting.

Going natural is a beautiful thing and not all women are bold enough to do it. So just the fact that you are going to do it, you should give yourself credit. Look at Rochelle Ritchie for example, a Florida news reporter who was in the public eye and took the huge jump to go natural for the sake of herself, and future news reporters.
The first thing that is advised is that you talk to a loctician. They can help guide you the right way.

Also, of course you want to look to www.mydreadlocks.com for tips, tricks, and advice when it comes to maintaining and styling our dreads.

The next thing is if you are transitioning and do not have the time or money to necessarily maintain your natural do. Its highly suggested that you wig it. While wearing a lace front wig you can achieve a natural hairline and manageable look while prepping your natural hair for its biggest stages.

A lace front wig is the closest thing that you are going to get to having relaxed hair without processing your real hair. It is also a safe and effective way to promote healthy hair growth. A lace front wig is not permanent; Therefore, you can put it on and take it off when you want.

Why you should get a lace wig when first starting to transition to natural hair to eventually transition to locs?
·
  • It    It will help save you time in the morning

  • ·       It will keep you less frustrated with your real hair and AWAY from the creamy crack

  • ·       It allows you the ability to freely take care of your hair

  • ·        It will save you money

  • ·       You will be able to still follow the instructions of your loctician.

  • ·       It can be helpful if you work in a position where head wraps and hats are not allowed within their dress code.

A lace front wig is something that you should definitely consider. For those of you that want more info on lace front wigs. Please visit us at www.queenslace.com.

RED ALERT

How to Be a Red Head:

It's no secret this season the hair trend is RED. A lot of people are scared to be a red head. Including myself. I always wanted to rock red, but was never quite sure how to rock it the right way or the perfect color. I didn't want the red to be too bright and appear as unprofessional, but I didn't want streaks.

Do you need a shade that makes your complexion pop? Well so did I.

I decided that I had to have me some red ever since Tiny came on the scene with her beautiful red. However, her complexion goes great with the color she has. The same with Rihanna. He complexion look nice with the fire engine red. But not for us brown sisters.

The best thing is to look around. Go to the hair store and ask for help. Each brand has different shades for the same colors.

Try a full head weave or a rinse.

Now is the time to find beautiful reds in hair stores because they are in season. If you find a nice  red you like I highly suggest that you stock up.

I decided on a red that was not too bright but not too dark. It looks like I have a red rinse over dark brown hair.

Below is  a picture of me and my new signature red!

Merry Christmas . This Christmas I wish you joy!

Mistakes to Easily Avoid the Next Time Your Buying Hair!

Whether its synthetic or Remy be careful when picking out your weaves.

Just because it says its Remy doesn't mean it really is. Rule number one if the products states that its virgin Remy and the color is platinum blonde than chances are that it is not virgin. In order for hair to be virgin it has to come straight from the donor hair and has NEVER been processed. This included chemical treatments such as color.

You will be disappointed if you end up spending your hard earned dollars on faulty Remy hair because you will soon find out that it is no different than regular human hair because that's what it is when its not real Remy.

Must Read Hair Tip
Picking out hair is no longer as easy as it was before because you now have so many choices to choose from. Color 1 or 1 b. What length, Silky straight,Yaki perm straight, kinky, Indian Remy, Remy, Remi, Oprah curl or etc. It is now sometimes a challenge. You want quality - but you don't want to spend too much. That is fine.

There are many ways where you can save money when in the hair store. The biggest mistake females make in the hair store is buying hair that looks un-natural.
Its the truth ladies. We buy hair that we desire. That European mink silky hair may look gorgeous in the package but will it look gorgeous on us or will we look like a fake barbie doll.

If you are aiming for an extra silky look - I say go for it.

But if you want an realistic undetectable weave then stay away from the shine.  The same applies for wigs.  More importantly, if you are getting tracks blended in with your real hair get a texture that matches your real hair. The most frustrating thing to do is trying to blend to textures that don't match- it's impossible!

This is Brazilian Remy hair. Looks natural. Can be worn wavy or straight.

Be prepared to show the person handling hair in the store your real hair so they can help you find the perfect texture. Believe it or not but sometime the natural textures are less of a hassle. By this I mean sometimes that extra shiny hair tangles up and is very hard to manage.

This is Chinese Remy Silky straight. It sometimes can appear to shiny. She is great for curling, but would never blend with my actual real hair.
Premium Now carries some good realistic hair textures, so does the Gold Moma brand it is as real looking as it comes- These types of hair are not nappy and too thick, but they are not bone straight either.

With that being said it all depends on the wearer. I do all, but when it comes to blending my real hair with tracks I have to match my texture.

Protect your hair this winter

Old man winter is up the street. Brr is getting cold. My New York friends already are saying it is brick outside. Therefore, what does this mean for your hair. How are you protecting your hair? Its super duper hard to protect your hair in the winter from harsh temperatures. We have no control of mother nature. We have no control over how cold the weather gets. Common sense can tell you that below freezing temps are not good for your hair.

I remember those days when I would flatten iron my real hair go to the bus stop and seconds later my sleek do turned frozen. By the time I got to school my hair would be a frizz ball. Flatten ironing was a waste of time for my morning routine. More importantly, I was triple damaging my hair with heat, cold, then transitioning from cold to warm all over again. Stop this cycle.

Sorry a hat doesn't quite pull the trick either. A hat may keep your ears warm, but when you take that hat off you have hat hair. This winter avoid hat hair.

How to avoid hat hair this winter?

Instantly solve this problem with a lace wig. Why? Lace wigs will cover and protect your hair from harsh weather. Plus you will not have to worry about applying heat to your hair and you can style the lace wig however you desire. To top this off, snow storms, hail, sleet, frigid temperatures, icy cold winds will not damage your lace wigs. The wig will be able to withstand it all.

More importantly you will look flawless. So whoever said that you cannot look cute in the winter time go ahead and prove them wrong. You will have celebrity hair for a fraction of the price.

Save time too
Lace wigs save time in the morning as well. Why? Think about it less time spent doing your hair. All you have to do is apply the lace wigs. Or if its already applied wrap it down and go. My lace wig are made with Remy hair so they tell do what you tell them to do. So stop wasting time in the morning.

Hurry up and get your lace wig before winter gets here.

Have a happy hair week.

Buns are Back

I went to a fashion show and of course I was checking out the model's hair. Buns are here. I am not talking about donut buns because those never left. I am talking about the old school pin up buns.

The thing I noticed about them now it that they are not hard looking filled with gel or spritz and they are very natural looking as well. In addition hair texture isn't a problem you can rock a bun and be in a need of a relaxer.

When in doubt bun it.

Don't have time to go to the salon - bun it

Don't have money to buy weave - bun it.

Below is a picture of me wearing a bun with my own hair. Yes, I know what you are thinking where is your wig. I have been taking a 1 month break away from my wig and I started out trying a different hairstyles. First, I started with tracks that a sewed in myself, then I went to a draw string pony, then I went to a natural bun.

Enough of me check out the picture below for yourself,

Just bun it however you want You make the rules for this one and its okay to have stray hairs.

Tools needed:
Pretty headband, bobby pins, hair pudding, fine tooth comb, and bristle brush

3 Different Ways to Style Your Lace

There are several different way to style your wig. However, sometimes people get stuck wearing the same style over and over again. You didn't spend all that money on a lace wig to just wear it in one style. If thar's the case then you should have just got a full head weave.

Remember with a full head weave you are limited. With a full lace wig the possibilities are endless.

How You can wear your lace:

Brazilian and Indian hair gives you the opportunity to rock it wavy or straight.

So lets talk waves. Waves can be wild, tame, or sexy.

Okay so you can be fun a flirty. Keep it simple. To achieve this look follow 3 easy steps.

1. Comb through hair before wetting it to make sure its rid of all tangles.

2. Mix curl activator and cold water and spray spray spray! Put come type of serum on the wet hair and do not comb when WET.

3. Let it air dry and this what you get!

Wild Waves Below

Dare to be bold and rock it wild! Wild Alert! If you are going to rock your hair wild. You need to wear the hair and not let the hair wear you! Have fun!

Go from bold to more refined waves. Something like this much more tamer in the office. Guess what? I achieved this look without using a flatten iron or blow dryer. Want to find out how transitioned from wild to tame then follow me an subscribe to my site here.

The Difference a Cap Can Make

No, I am not talking about a baseball I cap. I am talking about the stocking cap beneath your lace wig.
You pretty much have three choices:

1.) The most common black cap.

2.) The dark brown cap

3.) The beige cap.

But which one is best for you? Many people go with the black, but in my opinion the black is soooo wrong! That's right stay away from the black cap.

Why?

You want to create a contrast. You want your scalp to look as realistic as possible. For this reason, no ones scalp is black. If your wig is dark then do NOT where a black cap. It will not create contrast and will cause the wig to be detectable.

So What caps do you suggest?

I strongly suggest the brown cap or the beige stocking cap.

Brown or beige?
Brown is my top selection. Here's why. You usually can never go wrong with the brown cap. The beige cap is great, it literally makes your scalp stand out especially if the wig is very dark. But when the wig is brown or blonde the hair may clash with the brown and look wierd depemding on your complexion. It may clash.

Also, the beige can be very tricky because when you have those peekers that like to be all up in your wig they can tell the difference between where the blonde cap is and your skin/hairline is and if those two complexions don't match you are in trouble.

How Can I tell Which Cap is the Best for Me?
I suggest you make sure the wig appears to have a natural part. You have to play around with this. We are all different shades. It all depends on your complexion, but I highly recommend dark brown its a safe color.

Happy lace wig wearing guys please comment and don't forget to follow.

My Wig Made it Through Labor!

Yes you read the title correctly. My hair looked flawless after labor and delivery.

How?

Okay well, I must admit that I personally did not go through labor. I do not have any kids as yet, but my older sister did and I have my very first nephew. As being a new aunty obviously I wanted to be there, so I was.

As soon as I got the text message the my sister was in the hospital and in labor, I frantically ran out of my job and headed to the hospital like a crazy lady in the middle of the rain.

I made it and everything was calm. It was just the beginning process around 10 in the am.

How exactly did your wig make it through labor?

As we know labor and delivery takes time. I stayed there for awhile tending to my sister. Then took a break went to my mom's house and tried to patiently wait. Then about eight hours later returned back to the hospital anxiously waiting in the waiting room along with other family members.

I was surrounded by sleepy family members and I was restless. I could not sleep all I could do was pray and wait.

Now the important part:

Finally during the wee hours of the morning my nephews had arrived safe and sound. Of course it was time to meet him and take pics. When taking pictures, I never even thought about what my hair looked like, but I could only imagine that I must've looked crazy because I didn't pay any attention to my look all day.

When looking over the pics recently, I felt that my hair looked flawless for being untouched. I expected to look like a frizz ball. Without combing, brushing, and anything(ing) all day!

This my friends is the power of a lace wig. Lace wigs are not high maintenence at all and are well worth the investment, because your hair looks great even when you are not thinking about it!

I am so happy that I have a new nephew and that my sister and him are safe and sound.

I am eqally as happy to have a great product to share with my customers.
