RED ALERT

How to Be a Red Head:

It's no secret this season the hair trend is RED. A lot of people are scared to be a red head. Including myself. I always wanted to rock red, but was never quite sure how to rock it the right way or the perfect color. I didn't want the red to be too bright and appear as unprofessional, but I didn't want streaks.

Do you need a shade that makes your complexion pop? Well so did I.

I decided that I had to have me some red ever since Tiny came on the scene with her beautiful red. However, her complexion goes great with the color she has. The same with Rihanna. He complexion look nice with the fire engine red. But not for us brown sisters.

The best thing is to look around. Go to the hair store and ask for help. Each brand has different shades for the same colors.

Try a full head weave or a rinse.

Now is the time to find beautiful reds in hair stores because they are in season. If you find a nice  red you like I highly suggest that you stock up.

I decided on a red that was not too bright but not too dark. It looks like I have a red rinse over dark brown hair.

Below is  a picture of me and my new signature red!

Merry Christmas . This Christmas I wish you joy!

Mistakes to Easily Avoid the Next Time Your Buying Hair!

Whether its synthetic or Remy be careful when picking out your weaves.

Just because it says its Remy doesn't mean it really is. Rule number one if the products states that its virgin Remy and the color is platinum blonde than chances are that it is not virgin. In order for hair to be virgin it has to come straight from the donor hair and has NEVER been processed. This included chemical treatments such as color.

You will be disappointed if you end up spending your hard earned dollars on faulty Remy hair because you will soon find out that it is no different than regular human hair because that's what it is when its not real Remy.

Must Read Hair Tip
Picking out hair is no longer as easy as it was before because you now have so many choices to choose from. Color 1 or 1 b. What length, Silky straight,Yaki perm straight, kinky, Indian Remy, Remy, Remi, Oprah curl or etc. It is now sometimes a challenge. You want quality - but you don't want to spend too much. That is fine.

There are many ways where you can save money when in the hair store. The biggest mistake females make in the hair store is buying hair that looks un-natural.
Its the truth ladies. We buy hair that we desire. That European mink silky hair may look gorgeous in the package but will it look gorgeous on us or will we look like a fake barbie doll.

If you are aiming for an extra silky look - I say go for it.

But if you want an realistic undetectable weave then stay away from the shine.  The same applies for wigs.  More importantly, if you are getting tracks blended in with your real hair get a texture that matches your real hair. The most frustrating thing to do is trying to blend to textures that don't match- it's impossible!

This is Brazilian Remy hair. Looks natural. Can be worn wavy or straight.

Be prepared to show the person handling hair in the store your real hair so they can help you find the perfect texture. Believe it or not but sometime the natural textures are less of a hassle. By this I mean sometimes that extra shiny hair tangles up and is very hard to manage.

This is Chinese Remy Silky straight. It sometimes can appear to shiny. She is great for curling, but would never blend with my actual real hair.
Premium Now carries some good realistic hair textures, so does the Gold Moma brand it is as real looking as it comes- These types of hair are not nappy and too thick, but they are not bone straight either.

With that being said it all depends on the wearer. I do all, but when it comes to blending my real hair with tracks I have to match my texture.

Protect your hair this winter

Old man winter is up the street. Brr is getting cold. My New York friends already are saying it is brick outside. Therefore, what does this mean for your hair. How are you protecting your hair? Its super duper hard to protect your hair in the winter from harsh temperatures. We have no control of mother nature. We have no control over how cold the weather gets. Common sense can tell you that below freezing temps are not good for your hair.

I remember those days when I would flatten iron my real hair go to the bus stop and seconds later my sleek do turned frozen. By the time I got to school my hair would be a frizz ball. Flatten ironing was a waste of time for my morning routine. More importantly, I was triple damaging my hair with heat, cold, then transitioning from cold to warm all over again. Stop this cycle.

Sorry a hat doesn't quite pull the trick either. A hat may keep your ears warm, but when you take that hat off you have hat hair. This winter avoid hat hair.

How to avoid hat hair this winter?

Instantly solve this problem with a lace wig. Why? Lace wigs will cover and protect your hair from harsh weather. Plus you will not have to worry about applying heat to your hair and you can style the lace wig however you desire. To top this off, snow storms, hail, sleet, frigid temperatures, icy cold winds will not damage your lace wigs. The wig will be able to withstand it all.

More importantly you will look flawless. So whoever said that you cannot look cute in the winter time go ahead and prove them wrong. You will have celebrity hair for a fraction of the price.

Save time too
Lace wigs save time in the morning as well. Why? Think about it less time spent doing your hair. All you have to do is apply the lace wigs. Or if its already applied wrap it down and go. My lace wig are made with Remy hair so they tell do what you tell them to do. So stop wasting time in the morning.

Hurry up and get your lace wig before winter gets here.

Have a happy hair week.

Buns are Back

I went to a fashion show and of course I was checking out the model's hair. Buns are here. I am not talking about donut buns because those never left. I am talking about the old school pin up buns.

The thing I noticed about them now it that they are not hard looking filled with gel or spritz and they are very natural looking as well. In addition hair texture isn't a problem you can rock a bun and be in a need of a relaxer.

When in doubt bun it.

Don't have time to go to the salon - bun it

Don't have money to buy weave - bun it.

Below is a picture of me wearing a bun with my own hair. Yes, I know what you are thinking where is your wig. I have been taking a 1 month break away from my wig and I started out trying a different hairstyles. First, I started with tracks that a sewed in myself, then I went to a draw string pony, then I went to a natural bun.

Enough of me check out the picture below for yourself,

Just bun it however you want You make the rules for this one and its okay to have stray hairs.

Tools needed:
Pretty headband, bobby pins, hair pudding, fine tooth comb, and bristle brush

3 Different Ways to Style Your Lace

There are several different way to style your wig. However, sometimes people get stuck wearing the same style over and over again. You didn't spend all that money on a lace wig to just wear it in one style. If thar's the case then you should have just got a full head weave.

Remember with a full head weave you are limited. With a full lace wig the possibilities are endless.

How You can wear your lace:

Brazilian and Indian hair gives you the opportunity to rock it wavy or straight.

So lets talk waves. Waves can be wild, tame, or sexy.

Okay so you can be fun a flirty. Keep it simple. To achieve this look follow 3 easy steps.

1. Comb through hair before wetting it to make sure its rid of all tangles.

2. Mix curl activator and cold water and spray spray spray! Put come type of serum on the wet hair and do not comb when WET.

3. Let it air dry and this what you get!

Wild Waves Below

Dare to be bold and rock it wild! Wild Alert! If you are going to rock your hair wild. You need to wear the hair and not let the hair wear you! Have fun!

Go from bold to more refined waves. Something like this much more tamer in the office. Guess what? I achieved this look without using a flatten iron or blow dryer. Want to find out how transitioned from wild to tame then follow me an subscribe to my site here.

Now time for Glamorous Waves:

Okay its time to go and and get glammed up. What do I do with my hair. One of the easiest things you can do is wave your lace wigs. Just apply cold water and let air dry and then tossle your hair to suit your face. Add accessories and you are good to go.

The Difference a Cap Can Make

No, I am not talking about a baseball I cap. I am talking about the stocking cap beneath your lace wig.
You pretty much have three choices:

1.) The most common black cap.

2.) The dark brown cap

3.) The beige cap.

But which one is best for you? Many people go with the black, but in my opinion the black is soooo wrong! That's right stay away from the black cap.

Why?

You want to create a contrast. You want your scalp to look as realistic as possible. For this reason, no ones scalp is black. If your wig is dark then do NOT where a black cap. It will not create contrast and will cause the wig to be detectable.

So What caps do you suggest?

I strongly suggest the brown cap or the beige stocking cap.

Brown or beige?
Brown is my top selection. Here's why. You usually can never go wrong with the brown cap. The beige cap is great, it literally makes your scalp stand out especially if the wig is very dark. But when the wig is brown or blonde the hair may clash with the brown and look wierd depemding on your complexion. It may clash.

Also, the beige can be very tricky because when you have those peekers that like to be all up in your wig they can tell the difference between where the blonde cap is and your skin/hairline is and if those two complexions don't match you are in trouble.

How Can I tell Which Cap is the Best for Me?
I suggest you make sure the wig appears to have a natural part. You have to play around with this. We are all different shades. It all depends on your complexion, but I highly recommend dark brown its a safe color.

Happy lace wig wearing guys please comment and don't forget to follow.

My Wig Made it Through Labor!

Yes you read the title correctly. My hair looked flawless after labor and delivery.

How?

Okay well, I must admit that I personally did not go through labor. I do not have any kids as yet, but my older sister did and I have my very first nephew. As being a new aunty obviously I wanted to be there, so I was.

As soon as I got the text message the my sister was in the hospital and in labor, I frantically ran out of my job and headed to the hospital like a crazy lady in the middle of the rain.

I made it and everything was calm. It was just the beginning process around 10 in the am.

How exactly did your wig make it through labor?

As we know labor and delivery takes time. I stayed there for awhile tending to my sister. Then took a break went to my mom's house and tried to patiently wait. Then about eight hours later returned back to the hospital anxiously waiting in the waiting room along with other family members.

I was surrounded by sleepy family members and I was restless. I could not sleep all I could do was pray and wait.

Now the important part:

Finally during the wee hours of the morning my nephews had arrived safe and sound. Of course it was time to meet him and take pics. When taking pictures, I never even thought about what my hair looked like, but I could only imagine that I must've looked crazy because I didn't pay any attention to my look all day.

When looking over the pics recently, I felt that my hair looked flawless for being untouched. I expected to look like a frizz ball. Without combing, brushing, and anything(ing) all day!

This my friends is the power of a lace wig. Lace wigs are not high maintenence at all and are well worth the investment, because your hair looks great even when you are not thinking about it!

I am so happy that I have a new nephew and that my sister and him are safe and sound.

I am eqally as happy to have a great product to share with my customers.

Must Read for Remy Wearers

How to Save Your Remy

Happy Day,

I hope all is well. Do you love your Brazilian Remy as much as I do? I am in love with my Remy! We offer a variety of Remy wigs. However, I noticed after washing her it takes a while to bounce back and I never achieved the silky smooth finish after straightening it with my chi..

That's because I was missing something. A couple of weeks ago I came across a blog post that was written by Marquetta Breslin and she stated that Moroccan oil was a must with Remy hair.

After reading,I decided that I needed to experiment.
I went on a search for real Moroccan oil and I couldn't find it because it is only available for purchase via hair salons. I even went to Sephora and they showed me Argan oil which comes from Morocco but is not the same thing. So I went to CVS and found Argan oil from Morocco again by Hollywood Beauty and decided to give it a try.

And wow, for the last two weeks Argan oil is the only thing that I have been putting on my hair (my Remy wig that is) and there definitely is a major difference. It appears to have a natural shine. No frizzy ends - not oily, easy to manage., stays straight longer and looks better. I am impressed and SOLD.All you have to do is put a few drops in daily. Plus of course wrap your hair afterward. I do this every night and it automatically reconstructs the ends on my Remy.

Most importantly, I have been getting compliments all around.I now know what celebrities use to keep there hair looking so shiny and healthy. No hair oil can do this because Argan oil is self absorbent that way it doesn't weigh down the hair.

Anyway, I will continue using Argan oil and I think you should give it a try. Also, it smells so good. It can be purchased at CVS and the brand is Hollywood Beauty. As far as Moroccan oil, I am in the process of ordering it and I will let you know how it works - I have been told that Moroccan oil is even better, but it has to be the real Moroccan oil brand..

But once you go Argan you will never go back and there will be no need to use any other oil sheen or serum again!
Buy a new lace wig from Queens of Weave Lace Wigs and get a free bottle of Argan oil.
For more on how to take care of your Remy you can read Marquetta's Blog here.

Enjoy your week.

A Solution to Bad Hair Days

Yesterday, I was standing outside in the pouring rain. No hat, no umbrella, no coverage. Surprisingly, the last thing on my mind was my hair. I let it get wet and I was beyond MAD. I wasn't mad about my hair though. I could careless that my hair got wet because I knew it would still look great. I was mad that what I was waiting in line for was not there. That's another story. Things You Must Know Before Purchasing A Lace Wig!

Things You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Lace Wig:
I've heard horror stories about people who have simply bought bad lace wigs. Just like any investment you must do your research - do not jump and buy what seems to be the best deal. Prior to buying follow these steps.

STEP 1 - Will the lace wig fit? The last thing you want to do is purchase a lace wig on-line and when it arrives in the mail it simply doesn't fit. Ask your lace wig provider what are their size options. Do they come with an adjustable strap. Some places require measurements it is best to provide these measurements to your supplier. The circumference of your head, measurements from ear to ear, and measurements of the nape of the neck. If you are paying for a custom made wig then measurements are essential. For wigs selling small, medium, and large - Medium is the typical size sold. However, you know your head best do not get a medium if you know you have a peanut head.

1. Small: 20" to 21.5" circumference , (13.5-14"), 12", 12.5", 14.5" , 5"
2. Medium: 22" to 22.5"circumference , 14", (12.5-13"), 13", 15.5", (5.5"-6")
3. Large: 23" to 24.5"circumference , (15.5-16"), 13", 13.5", 16.5", (6.5-7")

STEP 2 - Hair quality: When deciding on hair don't be afraid to ask questions. I do not recommend paying over $50.00 for a synthetic wig. They simply do not last long and do not look natural. Remy hair is always best that is the top grade hair right now. Brazilian, Indian, and Malaysian Remy hair are different textures that can be worn wavy or straight. Though these hairs are much more versatile they simply do consider more maintenance, so if you do not have the patience to flatten out your hair then I suggest to stick with the straight Silky Chinese Remy.

STEP 3 - Lace textures. There are different kinds of lace. There is Swiss and french. French is more durable yet detectable and Swiss is more fragile yet undetectable. To give you a clue most synthetic wigs are made with French lace. Swiss lace has finer wholes and is much easier to adhere to the skin hence the material is thinner. Hint: Ask your lace wig consultant to dye your lace so it can match your complexion. This is the best way to achieve an undetectable hairline. Clear lace only works best for people with fair complexions ( "light skinned" or Caucasians).

STEP 4 - BLEACHED KNOTS - Bleached knots are self explanatory. Knots are bleached so that the hair appears to be growing out of the scalp.

STEP 5 - Baby Hairs - Baby hairs are shorter pieces of hair around the hairline to make the wig look realistic. Not all lace wigs come with this. Be sure not to assume. Some providers charge an extra fee for these features.

BONUS - FREE STYLE - Free style can be achieved on a full lace wig. Meaning it can be parted anywhere on the wig. Do not assume because it is a full
lace wig that it is free style - ASK

Take these six things into consideration when buying your next lace wig. Of course there are other features such as density and hair colors to consider, but these six things are basic essentials. Don't worry we have it all covered for you. All of our wigs come with Swiss lace dyed to match your complexion, baby hairs and bleached knots for the most realistic hairline, and a variety of hair textures to match your daily needs. How to Get an Undetectable Lace Wig without Messy Glue or Tapes?

Are you sick and tired of trying to achieve the most undetectable lace unit with glue? Glue and tapes can be annoying, tricky, and messy.

Especially if you are just starting to wear lace wigs. Trust me I’ve been there and I hate the gluey clean up! Glue is not only messy some people simply have allergic reactions to it.

Previous Remedies that have failed are:
 Double sided tape- which isn’t easy to put on and is much harder to remove.
 Tapes and glues are not allergen free
 Glue companies offer a less stick y glue but it doesn’t give you a durable hold
 Buying tapes and glues can be expensive

Imagine achieving an undetectable lace unit without glue and tape. You can apply it on your own without expensive trips to the hair salon for correct lace wig installation. You would be able to go on vacation and not have to worry about slippage. You can even really swim without messing up your unit.

Queens of Weave now offers the no glue lace wig. That’s right I researched a better product for my clients so they could wear the unit without the messy hassle. I repeat no glue or tape is needed. It’s less expensive to maintain and clients no longer have to worry about suffering from allergic reactions to adhesives. The application step is a piece of pie all you have to do it put it on.

2.)Comb from the bottom up ( Be Gentle)
3.)While combing out the hair heat a curling iron on low ( no higher than 8, ceramic flatten iron or chi NOT recommended)
4.)Add warm water in a spray bottle.
5.)Prepare Duck Clips.
6.)Section the hair as you would when your curl it
7.)Spray a minimal amount of warm water on each section before you curl it
8.)Comb hair again when damp
9.)Proceed to curl each section
10.)Curl the hair as though you were doing Shirley temple curls
11.)Tightly hold the curling iron on hair for 20 sec
12.)For tight curls you can pin curls up with duck bill clips or hair pins
13.)For loose curls you do not have to pin hair up
14.)You will have to repeat this processes each time the wig starts to tangle
15.)Apply a no oil wig spray

How to Manage Your Hair During This Heat Wave!

It's too hot to be wearing your hair down during this heat wave, so make your ponytail pop! Here's how? Sleek you hair back in a quick ponytail (use styling gel, hair spray, or some time of mold) Once you have your hair secure in a ponytail finish it off with a pretty headband and if you are not a headband wearer then add a fancy clip!

Other Summer Styles
Seductive Side Bun
French Braid
Intentionially messy pony with pretty clip
Luscious Waves - Do not bother drying your hair in the morning - Scrunch it up and let it air dry.

How To Tame Those Wavy Waves

Ladies ladies Ladies,
Okay summer is coming and how many of us love wet and wavy hair. BUT we cannot stand it when the what’s supposed to be luscious waves turns into a frizz disaster. Fret no further! Check out the following tips below on how to maintain those beautiful waves.
Your biggest mistake is using products that are not made for curly textures. If you want soft curls
– I recommend Soft Sheen Carson curl activator/moisturizer (yellow and red bottle),
Pantene Pro V Frizz Controller and Tresemme Long lasting Curl spray
- Use products made for curly hair
- If you want soft curls don’t use gel, spritz, or
mousse (avoid products with alcohol)
- Try to keep the hair hydrated
- Use cold water in your spray bottle as opposed
to warm water ( I learned that cold water decreases the amount of frizz on the Tyra show!)
- Some days you do not have to put water on it =
just apply a curl activator
- When wet scrunch the hair= don’t brush, don’t comb
SCRUNCH from the bottom up
If you are going to brush – brush ONLY when dry- This will make hair fuller.
Want a very voluminous look? Then try blow drying with a diffuser.
- Use a minimum amount of product or the hair will start to weigh down and you will get greasy!
- If your human hair weave is loosing its curl straighten it out if
then try to curl it again or try setting it on rods, flexi rods, or straw curls
for a different pattern.
- Remember curls are meant to be fun, so have fun
with your wavy  locks! Please don't forget to subscribe to our site for free and get freebies. Also, we are mobile now!

Have a happy hair week.

Do Lace Wig Makers Receive Too Little Credit?

I have been collecting hair magazines and researching the hair industry for quite awhile and I feel that us lace wig makers or wig makers in general often go unnoticed.

For example, I often glimpse at pages with beautiful styles where celebrities or average people are wearing lace wigs or a wig and the only people noticed are: the photographers, the person in the photo, and the hair stylist that applied the wig. What about the wig maker? The person that ultimately created that piece or the person that spent tedious hours designing the piece. Don't they deserve to get some credit too? I mean if it weren't for the wig designer then there simply wouldn't be a style to show off.

Lace wigs are not new to the industry necessarily. They are just now trendy and more available to regular people. For this reason my question arises: When are the lace wig makers going to get credit? Lace wigs have literally revamped the hair industry. Hair styling is no longer the same. It has changed for the better; we now have the opportunity to wear long realistic locks. However, it bothers me that the true people behind the scenes aren't getting the credit and publicity that they deserve. Without lace wig makers there wouldn't be lace wigs. Yes, I know there are machines, but most people opt to have their wigs hand made because they simply last longer.

Additionally, shouldn't we receive some type of acknowledgment? For example, in most beauty stores licensed hair stylist receive a discount with proof that they are licensed. Why doesn't this apply to wig maker? We have to buy the hair to create the wigs for our clients as well. Too add to this, several hair shows only admit licensed stylist. That list does not include a wig maker if you are not a licensed stylist. I feel we deserve a similar privilege. No, I didn't go to hair school and will NEVER impose to be a hair dresser, but I am a wig designer that requires great skill and would love to enhance my skills, by attending these events.

I feel that we are equally as important and we should get more credit. We should appear in the hair magazines too. We should receive discounts, support, and be able to attend all hair shows. The hair industry has changed for the better, so now its time to make some changes for making all stylist feel somewhat equal.

Happy Wig Rocking,
